Every year the U.S. recognizes March as Women’s History Month. The theme of Women’s History Month 2020 is “Valiant Women of the Vote,” honoring those who fought for suffrage rights for women. A fitting theme in this election year where we saw a record number of female candidates.

One hundred years ago, the struggle to win the right to vote for women was reaching its goal. In May 1919, the House of Representatives passed what was to become the 19th Amendment, which was ratified by three-fourths of the states on August 18, 1920.
